First Nations Artist

Cory Bigcharles

Cory Bigcharles was born in 1974 in Edmonton, Alberta. When he was a teenager he moved to Vancouver to live with his father. While living in Vancouver he spent time with the Hall family and was introduced to the arts of the NuXalk Nation. He first learned the colours, stories and the meaning of the art and its representation.

During this time he connected to the art and its spirit. He learned that art has a spirit that is alive and powerful. With this knowledge he began his journey into the world of native art. He started with drawing and painting, then moved to carving. He has now moved on to gold and silversmithing. His Westcoast style is distinctively his own. Corey never makes two pieces the same and his art is now enjoyed in private collections around the world, most recently a Mask Museum in Germany. Enjoy and value your piece of Artwork.
