Bejewel
Trudy Gallagher is the visionary proprietress of Bejewel by Trudy Gallagher Ltd., encompassing both a custom design studio and a gallery.
Trudy's love of jewellery began as a
small child with a great deal of encouragement from her grandmother. When Trudy was only a child, her mom came home to find Trudy sitting on the floor with all her grandmother's jewellery pinned all the way around the bottom of her dress, " . . . so Trudy could see it". From then on Trudy and her grandmother scoured yard sales, antique shows and flea markets for jewellery.
As she got into her teens Trudy started buying, collecting and selling antique jewellery to support her 'habit'. When a friend asked her if she had ever considered going to school to become a jeweller a light bulb went on and she has never looked back.
After attending a jewellery trade school in Quebec City, Trudy moved to New Brunswick and opened Bejewel as a one woman operation in her basement. Believing the jewellery that Bejewel produces to be "jewellery art" and that jewellery is tied to fashion, Trudy has every intention of taking Bejewel to the level of custom designing and hand producing contemporary heirlooms for today's collectors as well as seeing Bejewel featured on runways and in fashion magazines.
