Canadian Artist
Jean-Yves Nantel
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1949, Jean-Yves has been working and producing jewellery art as a self-taught artist since the beginning of the 1980s. His artistic interest began during art class in a Montreal High School with Brother Jerome Paradis a teacher and artist. Jean-Yves later found his artistic expression creating jewellery. He works in complicity with his wife, Odette.
He has been honoured with the prestigious Jean-Marie Gauvreau prize in 1996. He also won an award of excellence in a joint contest of the Metal Arts Guild of Ontario and Quebec Craft Council in 1998. His works have been exhibited in Paris, New York, Chicago, Auckland, NZ, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Tobermory and Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.
He works with Sterling Silver and Titanium and using the anodization technique produces different tints. His tools are similar to using a pen and brush coupling the tints with abrasions to capture reflecting light. Varied composition methods enable him to explore form in an expressive free manner.
He constantly searches for innovative methods of assembling and welding the difficult to work with Titanium. His rewards are countless and he finds his work stimulating and exciting. He recently discovered a way to weld titanium to titanium and is very pleased to present his newest line of jewellery that is solely titanium and these designs are very modern and elegant.
Jean-Yves offers his anodized titanium jewellery art in four colours; blue, turquoise, pink and gold.
His bracelets come in sizes; small, medium and large.
Some of his new titanium line have solid colours which change colour as they reflect light. Beautiful.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF ANODIZED TITANIUM JEWELLERY
The hues and brilliance of each piece have been achieved with the use of Polarized Light. Please note that special care is involved to prevent damage to the surface and integrity of the colour of your piece.
Before handling this jewellery, your hands should be clean and free of lotions or creams and natural skin oils. Wash your hands. Once wearing, avoid the use of hair sprays and perfumes.
Your jewellery should be the last item you put on. If you do apply hand lotion or cream once wearing your jewellery, avoid handling the piece.
Clean your jewellery using warm soapy water and dry completely with paper towel. Keep your Sterling Silver sparkling with the use of a Silver Polishing Cloth only.
Store your pieces in the box they arrived in or place in a small Zip-Lok bag and set in a darkened place like a drawer. Air and light will cause your Sterling Silver to tarnish if left out on display when not in use.
